@Iamnotadoll_project is an initiative of Ms. Ioanna Paraskeva - sculptor, which uses a special way to motivate all of us and especially young people to adopt the idea of substantial gender equality, the precondition for which is primarily the elimination of all forms of discrimination, harmful practices, violence and exploitation of women and girls.
Especially today when we are going through a difficult and unprecedented period due to the covid pandemic 19, the number of cases related to gender-based violence is increasing dramatically.
@Iamnotadoll_project is an interactive alternative exhibition / event that will find ways to adapt to the difficulties of the time. Starting with the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (February 6) Female genital mutilation (FGM), a series of different workshops and actions will begin.

΅We are in a very difficult situation with the issues of all kinds of gender-based violence and irrational practices to increase. We are talking about human right offenses that have been designated and condemned so by the United Nations. I have been working on this project for about 2 years now when I started making the first sculpture, after studying and reading a lot about it. I decided to use the power of art in order to activate a very effective weapon that humanity has and this is no other than our youth. I aimed to find a way to bring them closer to the subject and to create a channel of communication with the adults, but also to put them in the process of searching, talking to each other and generally breaking the taboos and the concealment, leading to silent acceptance. Let us not forget that the largest percentage of these horrible acts occur in adolescents and young people. To this scope, I "softened" the harshness of the subject, recruiting sculptures that visually refer to a strange figure very intense in the eyes of the elderly but extremely friendly and alternative in the eyes of young people and children. I give a step to everyone but especially to young people to choose "in which colored shoes" they want to step in and communicate them. If we are to achieve gender equality, we must address issues such as those that affect human rights before they become norm for children. I consider education and motivation for discussion to be a key factor.” |
